La Maravilla is a family-run farm in the fertile region of Huehuetenango, near the Mexican border.

In 1997, Guillermo Rosales and his son Mauricio bought the 25-hectare farm and named it "La Maravilla" - the miracle - because they were fascinated by the beauty of the land.

Why this coffee is special:
La Maravilla is located in one of Guatemala's best coffee-growing regions. The farm was originally part of the famous Finca El Injerto II, considered the country's best coffee farm and a multiple winner of the CoE competition.

The Rosales family is committed to sustainable agriculture and nature conservation. Part of the land remains a protected forest with cypress and native trees, which provides the farm with natural water. Creole avocados and fruit trees also grow here.

Environmental friendliness is a top priority: used water is treated, chemical weed killers are taboo, and worm compost replaces chemical fertilizers.

Mauricio divides the farm into six plots with different coffee varieties: Pacayal (Caturra), La Peña (Pache), El Mezcal (Bourbon & Caturra), El Aguacate (Caturra), La Cumbre (Bourbon, Caturra & Pache), and Los Arroyos (Caturra & San Ramon). This batch comes from the El Mezcal plot.

Care from harvest to cup:
The harvest season lasts from January to April. Mauricio and his team control every step of production – from hand-picking to final delivery.
